From an ex-council tipper to a dedicated recovery truck — and the start of an independent business built around helping people.
THE REASON BEHIND WORKHORSE
Why I started WorkHorse Recovery
Vehicle recovery is something I have a genuine passion for. I've always enjoyed this type of work and take real pride in helping people when they need it most.
For me, WorkHorse Recovery is about more than running a business. It's about doing something I genuinely enjoy, helping people and taking pride in every job.
01 / WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
The truck's previous life
Before becoming the WorkHorse Recovery truck, it was an ex-council tipper. These photographs show it with its original tipper body fitted.
By the time I bought it, the tipper body had already been removed. I bought the chassis and cab as the starting point for my recovery truck.
02 / THE STARTING POINT
From chassis and cab
With the tipper body gone, the chassis and cab gave me a foundation to build the recovery vehicle I had in mind. This is where the transformation began.
03 / THE TRANSFORMATION
Built for the job
The next stage was building the recovery body. It took time, planning and hands-on work to turn the chassis into a truck ready to recover and transport vehicles.
04 / READY FOR THE ROAD
WorkHorse Recovery is born
With the beavertail recovery body completed, the truck was ready for work. It now helps customers with vehicle recovery and transport across the North East and beyond.
These photographs are a reminder of where it all started and the work that went into getting WorkHorse Recovery on the road.
